Dressing for clarity not vanity

I’ve recently been through the interview experience as I change jobs and I always hate the moment they ask; ‘tell us about your hobbies’ and I inevitably answer ‘fashion’ which quickly follows a slightly vacant look and elevator eyes judging my outfit and personality.

Being passionate about fashion isn’t superficial. It’s not just about shopping (although let’s face it, that’s SO MUCH FUN), or following the latest trends.

It’s about creativity and an expression of who you are. I dress to empower myself, to alter my mood and give myself confidence when anxiety rears it’s ugly head. I dress to put across who I am; to make a statement and demonstrate strength.

My outfits show you who I am. Not every look is the same but it’s constructed with a vision to portray independence, strength and individuality.

So please don’t judge me when I say fashion is a passion.

I’m dressing with clarity, not through vanity.

  1. Love this so much. I feel the exact same way. We aren’t blogging on fashion because we are obsessed with ourselves but because we love the intricate detail that goes into luxury pieces, the way we can style our own wardrobes to best match our personalities, the fact that sense of style can inspire confidence in our own skin. Fashion is so much more the vanity and modeling and looking great. It’s feeling just as good as you look and helping others to do the same.
